Description

Rarity Glass Version

I had this idea in November already and start to try to render it, but i had to stop, because the render times aren't nice and it doesn't look good

Meanwhile i guess i have some more experience with my sweet SoftImage|XSI to try it again. And this render is the result. It takes 26 hours for rendering and 2-3 days of testing around

This render is very very high quality with 8192x8192 pixels and it is very big with 50 MB. I upload the final 100% lost less result here. With JPEG and 75% quality it has just 2 MB, but than all the real important details where my PC takes 26 hours for it are gone and it looks blurry if you zoom in

Some words about the technique ... I use two Incidence shader combined with transparency and reflections. Both incidence with different settings. On the eye i use a simple reflection with a mask on the white and no reflections on the black parts. Rendered with mentalRay by using 15 reflection and refraction and 25 combined rays to prevent black faces. All in one ... it was nice burn-in test for my PC

I remove 2 eye leashes because they didn't looks so nice on this glass model

Hope you like this picture

You know, I've been looking for an artist that would work on crystals who can make thge mane 6 in the sytle of swarovski crystals.  (in particular the fabulous creatures trilogy they issued 1996-1998 ) crystalfanatics.files.wordpres…

But, unfortunatly, all the crystal workers i've contacted here in USA order stuff pre-made in large batches to re-sell. Even contacted Swarosvski company them self and they only order made items from over seas mass production centers. It saddened me. I found a few in italy, but their style is too rounded. I like the jagged flat diamond-like blocky cuts.

Anyway, your pic reminded me of that search im on :) I love the idea of crystal/glass ponies. Same for touhou. WOuld love to find a figure of flandre scarlet in crystal.
